Dr. Sarah Thursby was drawn to a career in healthcare at a young age.  Witnessing the effects of illness within her family growing up created an extreme desire and motivation to live a holistic, healthy lifestyle.  As an adult, her own lifestyle choices lead her down a career path which allowed her to encourage and help others achieve and maintain good health through holistic methods.

Dr. Thursby graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelors of Science in Biology.  After 5 years of medical research and sales experience, Dr. Thursby desired a better way to help others achieve good health.  She went on to complete her Doctorate of Chiropractic at National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) in Lombard, Illinois and is board certified in the state of Illinois.  Concurrent with her NUHS studies, Dr. Thursby completed a second bachelors degree in Human Biology and an intensive two year acupuncture program.  In September 2009, Dr. Thursby will sit for the acupuncture diplomate examination to acknowledge her studies in the field.

Dr. Thursby continued with postgraduate study focused in Perinatal Care including certification in the Webster Technique, Advanced Orthopedics, Foot and Lower Extremity Biomechanics, Optimal Performance Bodywork, Functional Rehabilitation, and Biomedical Acupuncture for Pain Management.  She is currently working towards Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture certification.

Selected to complete her clinical rotation at the Graduate Hospital of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Dr. Thursby's clinical work included side-by-side work with internal medicine medical residents caring for emergency room and in-patient patients.  The opportunity provided unique insights into the evaluation, management, and long term care of common clinical problems handled by the primary care physician.  Remaining clinical rotations were completed at the Main Campus Clinic and Salvation Army Clinic in downtown Chicago.  These experiences enhanced and solidified Dr. Thursby’s emphasis in merging holistic healthcare and mainstream medicine when necessary.  Dr. Thursby works closely with medical doctors through appropriate referrals and co-management.

Personally, Dr. Thursby is married and has lived in downtown Chicago for 12 years.  She and her husband have a 19 month old daughter and are joyously awaiting the arrival of their second child this summer.  Dr. Thursby enjoys running and has completed 10 marathons along with numerous half marathons and triathlons.  She also enjoys yoga, reading and enjoying the great city of Chicago with friends and family.
